LOVE FLUTE (NativeAmerican Indian Flute)
An unusuall flute with a soulful sound,
played by young warriors during courtship. It can play a true one and a
half octaves. Our love flutes comes in the key of C, D, G, B flat and F sharp. It has a unique wind passage and fipple that allows the player to adjust the voice of the flute, by making the fipple longer the voice will become softer and reedier and by making the fipple smaller it will sharpen and louden the notes. Flute melodies while individual, nevertheless have stylistic features in common. Most characteristic is their spacious and rhapsodic qualities which is often created by free and unmetered rhythm, and by leaps of octaves-forths and fifths within the melodic line - trills, grace notec and downward glissandos - and rising releases at phrase endings. Long-held pulsating notes - a vibrato-like effect which is created by accoustical beats on the fundamental note of the instrument, often act as an introduction and ending and may also clearly demarcate sections within the piece. Our love flutes come in a protective tube and come with instructions and the history. Timbers available are highly figured hardwoods such as Kauri, Totara, Rimu, Manuka, Rata, Eucalyptus etc. The bird or fipple mechanism is hand crafted from bone or wood and can be inlayed with blue Paua shell. Our love flutes are made by Woody Woodward, Leena & J. Sun. To listen to this musical instrument you can download our sound sample. |
