HISTORY OF THE GALLERY

The gallery was started in 1997. It was originally an old fishermans hut that had fallen into disrepair and was looking very sad. Copious amounts of horse manure and Marahau clay were plastered onto the walls inside, and outside weather boards covered the broken fibrolite, a few shingles and some beams inside and it relives as Arts Unique Gallery.

We are a small community of artists who pride ourselves with our work which is handmade on the premises or nearby. Each piece has part of the magic of the environment and made in the true spirit of creativity. A lot of the sculptures and instruments have been gifted to the gallery by other artists and are not for sale but for every visitor to enjoy. The pieces that are for sale, the money earnt goes back into more creation. Feel free to take photos and purchase something special as a gift or for yourselves.

We hope each year to create another sculpture and weave them into the history of Marahau.
